| Zusammenfassung | 0000682: COMBAT AGRESSIVE not with "every combat involving your faction" | ||||
| Beschreibung | Both in the english and the german rules this isn't very clear... and that cost me dearly (again) this turn. "COMBAT AGGRESSIVE: The unit will take the front row in every combat involving its faction and it will fight to the death. This is reasonable for cannon fodder." The german rules state the same thing. It just does not apply to -every- combat involving its faction. I had two units with COMBAT AGRESSIVE set that didn't join the rest of the faction's units in a fight because they didn't specifically have the order ATTACK set, while the other units did, and my opponent didn't attack me in that turn. While it says under "Taking sides: resolving allegiances" that attackers are all all units who had the order ATTACK against one or more units of the defenders, the information under COMBAT AGRESSIVE is confusing. I understand that there most likely will not be a rerun because of this, but this is the second time in a couple of weeks that a bunch of my men just stand there because the rules are unclear... don't mean to nag, it just sucks :( | ||||

Thanks, this (and the desciption of COMBAT NOT) was really not well-written. I've changed the description. Other units will not join a battle by themselves just beacuse one of your units gives an ATTACK order - you need to give one for each unit. There are three reasons for a unit to joing battle:

I'd like to amend to that:
I'm actually not sure about the part in parentheses, but from what I experienced a couple of weeks ago if your ally attacks and his opponent doesn't, you don't join in either. |

That's correct. The reasoning is that your ally can easily tell you that he's attacking, and you've got the freedom to decide whether you want to attack or not. |
